Meath County Council officially opened the Connaught Grove development of 32 social homes in Athboy today (31st August). Damien English, T.D. welcomed the new residents at the official opening and commended the Council on delivering the scheme on time, assisted by financial support of €8.176m, provided by his Department under the Rebuilding Ireland Programme.

Connaught Grove consists of a mix of 10 two-bed, 20 three-bed and 2 four-bed houses with a high spec finish, energy efficient heating and an A2-rated BER. The needs of a number of residents with specific physical requirements are also catered for, with the provision of four level access units as part of the overall development. The houses are in an excellent location and within walking distance of schools, shops and town centre services and other amenities.

“Meath County Council has an ambitious direct construction programme, with funding currently approved for a further 19 sites throughout the County, which will see the delivery of up to 340 units over the next 3-4 years. We hope that all the families who have taken up residence will enjoy many wonderful years in their new homes.”

The Cathaoirleach of Meath County Council, Cllr. Tom Kelly welcomed the opening of Connaught Grove saying that “it’s fantastic to meet some of the new residents living in these homes and to see the Council achieving real progress in addressing the housing problem.”
