The Mayor of Navan Municipal District, Cllr. Padraig Fitzsimons welcomed the guests in attendance and those watching remotely who represented the 38 applicant groups who took part from Navan Municipal District. Cllr. Fitzsimons acknowledged the challenging times and commended the fantastic and invaluable work and achievements of the voluntary groups over the last year and beyond.
Director of Services Mr Martin Murray commented that he was delighted to see the return of the Pride of Place initiative this year and thanked all of the volunteers on behalf of Meath County Council for the work that is carried out in the Navan District. He noted that the Pride of Place initiative is a successful partnership between the community and Meath County Council and that this commitment and support will continue.
The highlight of the night was the presentation of the Shane Donnelly Inspirational Award to Bernard Kenny of Core Ireland. Cllr Fitzsimons commended Bernard for his amazing and selfless service to the community which has helped and still helps to make the vulnerable members of the community feel cared for and assured that they are valued members of the community.
